Well it was dismal to say the least out of Kalama, no fish for us or the 4 boats I talked to. One boat said he saw another boat have a take down but it didn't stick....

One guy told me that he believes that they will be in in a week.....
I'm not holding my breath on that thought....
May try it later in the week but got a sore throat from the wet weather today...

 

Today's success did not warrant any picture taking but had a good time showing 3 newbies how I setup to troll for Springers and more trips are planned.
But a good day all around.

There in now, just not very many. As always the bulk of the run will come through after the 9th and they will reopen it after the bulk pushes past the dam. Just takes a whole bunch of hours this time of the year to convert fish....easy to burn out.

 

Yep just like this steelhead season, except we were fishing the supposed peak time & no fish here on the harbor....
I'm going to lobby WDFW hard for a lake only license,I'm getting frustrated at how the once great river fisheries have turned to gross mismanagement by greedy WDFW & politicians.

 

No hokie pokie was talking about the good times with the newbies and having a good day even if everyone turned into a wet rat.

 

Wet Rats make great springer bait.

 

I look at it this way, if you get wet up here it's yer own fault.... We live in a ducks world so we should dress like one... lol

 

7-3pm yesterday, one takedown at around 7:30.....saw one guide trolling that picked up one around the same time. Didn't see another fish all day. Water clarity was much improved around 3'+, surface temp around 45F. The guide was trolling plug cut and picked the fish up in about 28' of water by my educated guess. I was plunking in 22'-23' of water for the duration. I'm done fishing for a week and then will pick it up again on the 31st.

Reminder that the river is closed the next two Tuesdays for gillnetters......believe it 's the 29th and 4th without looking at the calendar.

I am thinking about going out Saturday next week the 2nd of April if either of you want a ride and a chance.

 

Hopefully I am well by then but I doubt I will be. Thanks for the offer though.

 

Had a buddy out this morning that missed a couple takedowns and another that saw three for 10 rods in another location he was fishing in. It's picking up.....I have 4 more days then vacation time. Can't wait. It's killing me!

 

I have all the time in the world to fish UT have been sick for week & don't dare go till I'm almost well.

The lower river is starting to pop. good reports starting to come in. Getting better everyday. First week of April is going to be very good it looks like.
