Back before I got hurt & got a boat I was a fish catchin machine on the bank. With a boat one has to learn how to fish all over again....
Great bank spots are unique to each species. Some are great for steelhead and some for salmon, but never both. My best Springer spots suck for steelhead and visa-versa. There are some that blend both fairly to make a good spot, but again not great for any one type if that makes sense.
They started letting more water out of the dam......had a difficult time finding the fish this morning. Played with depth and it appears they are shallower. Hit them this morning in 15' of water. Pretty good bite. I have 2 more days left then back to work.
Well if you go back to work then maybe some of us might have a chance at catchin a few.... lol Enjoy it while you can.
I'm actually getting pretty worn down, but we eat on this stuff for a year so I got work to do. Hoping for another quick day tomorrow.....some of the days were real grinds. Good luck to all!
I get the same way when I go to Drano & Wind for a week. Too little time to sleep when the sun is out till 9 pm & getting up at 3:30 am..... it sure makes it worth it when ya have a cooler full of springer fillets don't it?
Happiness is a full freezer. A good fall with at least a couple deer rounds it out. Guess the meeting is today on whether or not we get an extension. Hope if we do they delay it for a week or two.
Looks like we might get closed out today????? Will know after 2pm today. Got mine at 8 this morning......still out here scratching for the 2nd one for my buddy. He had one up to the bank at 9 and it popped off.
Tomorrow is it........Saturday is off the table. We picked up our second fish today a little before 11. Both again were caught in about 15' of water. Think we had about 5 or so takedowns? Good luck to those of you out tomorrow.
Nets are done unless the run is upgraded. Will find out sometime in early May if we have more time, but the rest of April nobody is going in. I might give the Willamette a shot in a couple weeks?
