Have heard of one getting yanked from the Willamette. I won't start targeting them until late February or early March. Good luck and post up the kills!

Will ask my FIL as he is the fisherman. Has been years since I went out......kind of gave it up but still have all the gear so maybe someday. I think the last one was on the Lewis River north of Woodland.

I'm just across the river from the Lewis. Last year was pretty good and the Columbia component of the run is forecasted a little higher then last year. Should be good!

I am starting to get springer fever.
Trying to talk myself into going to the mouth of the Willamette Sunday trolling around have a 2year old lab that has not had much time in a boat so it might be a good shake down cruz for her before thing really get going.

I've been anxious to get out, but I've still got an active cow tag in my pocket that I'm having a tough time filling. Finding elk, but can't align the stars for a clean shot. Seen some dandy bulls this year, a bear, dozens of deer, eagles, grouse and other stuff. Still got a month, so no fishing until I fill it or the tag expires.

    Good luck to you!

Finally made it out this morning for my first official trip of the year...............................it sucked!

Had one strike that didn't stick. Didn't see any fish clubbing for a bunch of boats. St Helens area.

Nets go in tonight with an 8 fish limit per boat. The river has really been popping the last few days. Closed on Tuesday and then open through Friday on the CR. Call in sick the fishing should be good and the weather forecast is nice too.
